Shopping and sod for the Field of Dreams

We're just one day away from making the Field of Dreams a reality, and Friday was a busy one!

As part of Make a Difference Day on October 27, WBIR is working with the Boys and Girls Club of the Cumberland Plateau to build a multi-purpose sports field for the kids and community to enjoy.

The first load of sod arrived at the club in Oneida on Thursday, and Friday, workers are spending the day laying down approximately an acre of grass for the field.  On Saturday, WBIR employees and community volunteers will finish the work.

10News anchor Russell Biven had a fun morning, going on a $1000 dollar shopping spree at the Target on Ray Mears Blvd. for sporting equipment for the club.  He and Kelsey Slaven, the club's athletic director, picked up soccer balls, soccer nets, basketballs, volleyball equipment, badminton, croquet sets, and a lot of other fun stuff for the kids to play with.

It is the generous donations from the community that are making all this possible.  If you'd like to help, visit the Field of Dreams page.
