2 Campbell Co. mothers face charges after using drugs while pregnant | News
Two Campbell County mothers are facing charges after deputies say the women admitted to using drugs while they were pregnant.
Johnna Ogg and Amanda Lyttle are charged with aggravated assault.
Authorities say both gave birth last year at UT Medical Center. Their babies had to be treated in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
As we reported Tuesday, babies with a drug dependency make up a large percentage of the sick infants in East Tennessee Children's Hospital.
To help combat the problem, lawmakers are considering a bill called the "Safe Harbor Act." It would secure priority treatment to drug-addicted moms who seek prenatal care and rehab.
