Three horses shot and killed in Scott County

Horse slayings have owners in Scott County on the look out.

"I moved them closer to the house so we can keep a better eye on them," said Jesse Stephens.

Stephens owned one of the horses.

The farmer said several horses have been fatally shot in Oneida since mid-August.

Scott County Sheriff Mike Cross confirms three of the deaths.

Police reports show two horses were fatally shot on Williams Creek Road.

Another horse was shot on nearby Marcumtown Road.

Those two cases were reported to the Sheriff's Department on August 17.

"To have someone do this to domesticated animals, like horses, is just vicious and meanness.  We're going to make every effort to make sure these people pay for it," said Sheriff Cross.

The sheriff calls the investigation active and ongoing.
