Oneida man killed during fiery single-car crash

An Oneida man died in a fiery single-vehicle crash over the weekend.

Johnny Chambers, 54, died in a crash along Church Avenue in Oneida.

Authorities say Chambers lost control of the car, spun out of control and hit a number of objects before heading down an open field where the vehicle burned completely.

More than $1M of marijuana destroyed in Campbell Co.

(WBIR) Campbell County deputies and LaFollette police destroyed more than a million dollars worth of marijuana this week.

This week, the Governor's Task Force on Marijuana Eradication encouraged police and sheriff departments to take as much marijuana off the streets as possible. Law enforcement discovered and destroyed about 1,100 plants in Campbell County.

Big South Fork wants public input on coal mine drainage

Officials with the Big South Fork want your ideas for cleaning contaminated mine land drainage and preserving the park for years to come.

For decades, coal mining provided jobs and a way of life for folks living in the Big South Fork area. Now, coal runoff from those abandoned mines present a hazard to many ecosystems within the park.

The group's first meeting Monday allowed the public to discuss ideas to clean up contaminated mine land drainage in Big South Fork.

Drug roundup underway in Campbell Co.

Twenty drug dealers and probation violators are in jail and twenty more are expected to be arrested Monday.

The Campbell County Sheriff's Office started the drug roundup, named "Operation Crushing Nuisance," before sunrise Monday morning.

TBI: Campbell Co. teacher took girl off campus, tried to kiss her

(WBIR- July 14, 2014) A Campbell County teacher is charged after investigators say he took a teenage girl off campus and attempted to kiss her at a church.

According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI), Lonnie Vann, 43, is charged with Solicitation of a Minor, Tampering with Evidence, and Assault.

He turned himself into the Campbell County jail on Monday and was released on a $10,000 bond.

Campbell County deputies arrested Kenneth Bartley Jr. late Wednesday night after his father called and texted his son's probation officer, saying his son had "gone crazy."
